Two road bikes with one helmet per bike.
|
I use one all year, a highly vented Giro light road helmet. I wish it had the visor from the line of off-road helmets.
|
1. MTB 2. Roadie , was thinking about a commuter one that's a bit more solid for the cold (like a BMX helmet).
|
It has taken me years to get a helmet, 99% are just so uncool.

Helmets for dressage are so much classier because of the kind of money you have to have to even participate ,
Estate To stable the Horse, training, travel , tuxedos to Go with it Etc. https://www.usef.org/images/UI/breed...age_cutout.png |

Hey Skye I understand your thought ,but you know that if you participate in any organized cycling event you must wear a skid lid or you can not participate,at least that's the order of the day in my part of the world,,,,,

2 XLCs. 1. LG. Two road bikes one MTB. They are pretty much the same color as are my bikes. I am looking to build a fixed gear so ther may be another helmet in the future.
|
I have two road bikes and two helmets - same brand, model and color.
|
I've got two. One for the road (Giro Atmos) and a Bell with a visor for MTB'ing, which i'll be looking to replace. I just cracked it in two places today. It did it's job well. I have a small abrasion and a headache only...
|
I wear mostly skate styled helmets or cycling caps. I do try to match color and scheme of helmet to the bike on which it will be used. (paint and/or vinyls) have a few neutral colors that go with anything though. Eventual plan is an inexpensive matching lid for every bike.

Pretty interesting responses! I'm thinking it's time to get a new helmet - the Flux has taken a couple really hard hits (I won't go near a MTB trail without a helmet anymore). I'm looking at a Troy Lee helmet that feels really good, but after reading these responses, I think I'll look for a nice road helmet, too. Thanks!
I'm not a multiple helmet person. A serial monogamist, I find one that's comfortable, fits, and works well and then stick with it 'till it needs to be replaced. |
Currently have two helmets, a Specialized road helmet I wear in the summer and a ski helmet I wear in the winter. I've started looking at extended coverage helmets and will probably buy one this spring as the road helmet is getting up there in age and I'm doing more gravel grinding and single track. I don't know just how much the foam becomes brittle and the cell structure starts to break down, but after a helmet has a few seasons on it, I'm usually ready for a change anyway. I usually keep my old helmet in a bag along with some cycling gloves and a few odds and ends for impromptu rides, but I gave my old one away a while back and haven't felt the need to replace the newer one yet.
|
One for mountain bike, one for road with headlight mounted on it, and one for road without light. Plus a handful of old ones for people to borrow that need one.
|
I have two helmets, the smaller one fits better when I have short hair and the other fits better with longer hair and a winter cap.
|
I don't see a need to have more than 1 helmet, but I don't race and don't race different types of disciplines. I use the same helmet for road riding as I do when I ride off road. The Lazer helmet I have has a visor but it's shallow in length making it easy to ride with on a road bike and it can be removed if need be.
|
Have two. One for mountain biking and the other for road.
|
Currently have two helmets because stoker and I recently got matching bright green Lazer helmets and I still have the previous one, a Bell Metro (made in 2004 and bought NOS in 2008). Gotta have a Backup Helmet, I suppose.
No longer have the Bell Biker I was wearing in 1981 on a bridge over the Hudson. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z.../Scan10151.jpg |
5 helmets. Most match a bike in color. All increase my visibility to drivers.
|
Have 1 cheap Walmart Bell helmet. I like to use it mainly for somewhere to attach a mirror to with the visor.
I wear it when on the road. If on just the rails to trails we have, I usually don't wear it. I was on a paved trail when I took my only spill. I did happen to have the helmet on but it didn't do much for my face bouncing and sliding across the pavement. |
I have a road helmet that matches well with my daily rider (and most of my cycling jerseys). The same helmet looks nice with my rain bike as well.
I also have a black helmet that goes well (enough) with any of the other bikes I own. The black helmet is also just enough bigger, that it fits me better when I wear a balaclava under it in the winter. |
Three different Bell helmets, none of which cost me more than $19.99. Two have visors, one doesn't. One is less well ventilated than the others, and I only wear it in cool weather.

I have 2. A red Giro Flak, which is skate-style. Good coverage, fits *perfectly* & is comfy, but gets pretty hot. And it's hot to warm for the most of the year here. I use this one for the skatepark, cooler weather, and when I just feel like having more coverage when mountain biking. Was my only helmet for some years till I got the other one.
The Bell helmet I have is a more ventilated-"regular" style helmet. It's gray & purple, pretty nice. I extended the visor with some plastic from a milk container because the visor was really short and pretty useless to actually block the sun. So much lighter than the Giro. |
I've been using only one helmet for the past 5 years because I wasn't that much into cycling, but now I'm more into doing longer rides (+40kms) and it's summer I'm starting to feel like my current Nutcase helmet is a bit too hot for the season. I think I'll get a more vented helmet for the summer and keep my Nutcase for the colder seasons.

I currently have three
Road ~ Giro Atmos MTB ~ Fox Striker Downhill MTB ~ Troy Lee D2 full face |

I have a few bicycling helmets. one is an old hardshell that could prbably withstand medieval jousting hits. At the other end of the scale i s my old lether hairnet helmet that'd be great for keeping pieces of my skull in close proximity after a bad crash. i have two other helmets that I wear on diffrent occassions most of the time I'm riding. one is bigger than the other and was chosen so that I can wear it over my winter balaclava. I cover that helmet with a high-viz-orange touque to cut the wind.
Cheers |
Technically I have two. One is a Giro (I forget the model), one of their lower end models from a few years back. I think I paid fifty bucks for it at a bike shop I refuse to shop at anymore. It's your typical "road helmet" with the extensive vents and whatnot, is all pointy and has a sun visor at the front, and is black and dark gray. It fits fine and does it's job (I guess, I haven't hit my head with it on).
The second one is a Nutcase Metroride I got just a few days ago for Christmas. I felt I wanted something different and I kind of like the old fashioned "pudding bowl" look of the Nutcase line (I also considered a Giro Reverb). Naturally, this one's defective, as the dial in back that tightens it doesn't work correctly, so it has to go back. I don't know if I'll get a replacement or just take the refund and look elsewhere - much as I like the looks of the Nutcase it's a lot heavier than that plain old Giro and I'm not sure I want to ride around all day with that on my head. |
Just the one.
|
How do you know that your Goodwill helmets haven't been in a crash?
I can understand buying a lot of things used, but I'm not sure I would want to risk my head in a second hand helmet that I didn't know if it had been in any crashes. GH |
