I DESPISE removing the front wheel -- and for the price of that lock, I'm good with it.

(And I've been around bikes A while...I know about that security approach; not a rookie, friend.)

How do you feel about taking the back wheel off?does it get easier?

IDK Where OP lives ... For grocery runs where I live I have a Axa frame mounted ring lock ,
and their 1.4M security chain that uses the ring lock .. via a pin catch..

It is not a College town or big City.

I use Velo Orange wheel skewers (they are cheap and rely on a pinned allen key) and tap lead solder into various other bolts which are generally left alone after they are properly adjusted. These include stem bolts (or one of each set, at least) and seat bolts.

Put a small wad of paper at the bottom of the bolt socket to aid future removal, cut a 1/4 piece of solder and tap it in using a hammer and punch. Add a bit more if needed -- tapping it merges the solder together.

To remove these bolts you'll need to remove the solder with a Dremel or an electric drill with a small bit. I don't remove these bolts very often once they are set so it's not an issue.

Bottom line is that no one will be removing these parts without a bit of planning and special tools.

They know it will rarely be prosecuted as a felony and there's no organized database for registered bicycles - even bicycle manufacturers don't consistently keep that information.

I register all my bikes for free at bikeregistry.com and spent a few dollars to buy a set of their security stickers.

So You're the one. Do you know how much time I have to spend scraping those off after I steal your bikes? They are almost enough of a pain to make me not steal your bikes.

For securing your components, what about these? www.hexlox.com
Seems very cool, easy to install and you don't need to replace any parts
