TT bike.
What TT bike do you have. You use your TT bike for racing or not. Do you climb with your TT bike? What chainrings size and cassette size do you use and how you deside use this gear ratio

https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...4d&oe=57399A46I have an old school TT bike, it's a Zipp2001 from 1993. Just had it repainted for the 5th time. I used it for ultra cycling events 12/24 hour events, will be doing some duathlons with it this year. I live in a very rolling area of our state and climb with it all the time. I run a 54/39 on the front with 3 different rear cog groups that I switch out depending on terrain. I have an 11/23, 11/25, and an 11/28.

I've race 40K TTs, but not so much the last few years. I usually leave 39/53 with a 12-23 cassette on it. TTs are usually on level ground, so that works just fine. I take it out and ride it every month or so just to see how fast I can still go. If I needed to go uphill, I'd put on an an 11-25 or 12-25. I also have a set of 42/54 rings for it, but lack manliness to push that anymore. I can't easily run a compact crank because the FD hangar is old style and only goes down to about a 52 large chain ring. I don't care, if I need a smaller big ring for a TT, I'll just get one of these -> https://www.electricbike.com/gruber-assist/ ;) |
Thank you for the answers. Nice TT bikes you have and your old 1993 TT bike in the photo is looks very interesting bike. I am new in TT bike i have buy one 2003 year made is Quintana Roo Tequilo. I have ride only once when i buy test ride i buy used and the bottom bracket had some play need replace i think. The crank is 53/39 and have 9 speeds cassette 12-25.The wheels is mavic cxp-10. How is looks that setup i leave the bike as is and put new bottom bracket? I have wheels fulcrum racing T i was think put in the TT bike or is better i leave the mavic wheels i not race but i love to ride. Is my first TT bike for some reason i do like TT bikes much more than road bikes. 11-28 9 speeds cassette is have big gaps between gears? i mean if used in flat terrain but in hills too? when you swap cassettes you use the same chain? or need different chain length each cassette? I have one steel road bike i do sprint in flat bike trail i do max speed 27 miles that is sounds low? I have this time 53/39 crank and 12-25 cassette. i tried go 30 miles max speed but i could.

2014 BMC TM01..
Yes I race with it and climb although I prefer not too.. sustained 4-5% is ok... but anything over 6% sustained, I'd rather ride my road bike. 53/39 in front.. thinking of putting in a 36 for those uphill TTs 11-25 out back. |
Thank you for your answer. Tuneup i do my self. i work on bikes i do as hobby. But i do that you say ride my TT bike. Hills is make the legs stronger i mean is better the hills than ride only in flat trail? i have set one goal ride in hills in one bike trail is closer to where i live and do 100 miles in flat trail. I not know if i can do 100 miles in the hilly trail. i have do 40 miles in that hilly trail but is few years ago.

Bobby1966 if you check out The Bikemanforu Jersey series and watch the wall video's hat me doing some little thigh burners with my road bike. quite a few of those little hills are in the 20% range. Hills only make you stronger.
