More pedantic note: I was referring to a Columbus "TreTubi" frame set, (ever hear of that one?) i.e. SL .9/.6./.9, in the "diamond", and *SP*,.9/.8/.9, in the forks and stays, heavier than SLX, hence I never had problems with it. Very rugged frame.
Tretubi was a lower-grade combination of Columbus tubing that consisted of SL or SP in the main triangle and unnamed seamed or seamless chromium-molybdenum or high-tensile steel in the forks and stays. Nothing wrong with it, of course---my favorite among all my bikes was an '82 Bianchi Eco Pista built with columbus Aelle (a.k.a. high-tensile steel) throughout. Stolen 10 years ago. I miss that bike. Also, butted forks and stays are generally single butted, not double butted. |

Aluminum forked Lambert - the fork failed at 19,000 miles.
