Germany plans to build dedicated bike highways to get more bicycle commuters. The first leg is already in place.

Hmmm, I found some of the comments a bit strange in comparision to my experiences over there in the 80s. I thought the country was very bike friendly. There were paved and smooth graveled paths all over the place running between the various towns. You could ride all day and travel to town after town without ever having to deal with roads and traffic. Not sure why the article seems to say it's not that bike friendly...
