Bib #590. First time in a few years. My son promises to not leave me behind!

Looking forward to the ride as we are both the same age.

TOSRV - one of the grand-daddy's of organized rides. Started out small in the '60s, and by the mid-late 70s had swelled to over 5000 registered riders.

Starts in Columbus, OH (the start was at the Statehouse back when I rode it), and follows SR104 to Portsmouth on the Ohio River -- 105 miles. Then ride back the next day, for a 210-mile weekend.

Oh, and it is held on Mother's Day weekend.

Tour of the Scioto River Valley. There’s also a Tour of the Swan River Valley (aka TOSRV West) in Montana.

I did TOSRV a couple of times. Apparently, it is possible to have nice weather both days, but I never saw that happen.

I've only ridden TOSRV twice. 1975 was the first of them. I was quite familiar with it's weather reputation, but came home with a sunburn and feeling so fortunate. Regarding that patch, I was so disappointed because something was "wrong" with mine. Later I found out they were all like that. Thanks for the memories. Oh - by the way, that was the weekend of my high school senior prom. I was feeling a little disappointed that I was missing it. That evening, in the beautiful weather, I was riding the bike around an industrial part of Portsmouth down near the river(I guess the day's ride wasn't enough!) and while stopped waiting for a train to clear the crossing ahead of me thought to myself "No, I made the right decision coming here." I've never regretted missing the prom for TOSRV.
