Worst name? Probably "Bin Laden"; or "Daesh". However they might get you shot.

You won't fool a bike thief with stickers. They'll see the components and know that is not a cheap bike.

The assumption that bike thieves care about brand names has led to a lot of rude awakenings.
If it were me, I'd wrap the frame tubing in the spare tubes that I'd be carrying anyway. And let it get and stay dirty. But I'd still assume that any bike would be stolen if left unattended for 10 seconds in any city or town. |
You know, your moniker here sounds awful enough if you try to say it out loud.....

As an aside I often go to the park here to run, and leave my bike in the bike rack by the trail unlocked while I run. I like just traveling light with no gear so I usually don't bring a lock. I only paid $80 for it so I won't cry if it gets stolen but seems no one wants a mid/lower end 80's bike that really looks 80's even though it's in very nice shape. I wouldn't try that in a city though, I'm fortunate to leave in a rural area with just a small town nearby. |
Take a big steaming dump on the seat and, nobody will get near it. Or, leave a couple of dripping used condoms hanging from the grips. Maybe an aids infected syringe strategically placed on the handlebars. Or what the hell, eat a big pile of Italian food and barf all over the bike. Nobody will get within a mile of it after that.

How about naming it a Hitler Reichmeister?
Or maybe the Pinochet Desaparecidos? Unfortunately, I think some people would find that appealing. It's sad that this is so. But as offensive as decals like this would be, I agree with the comment above: thieves will see through the ruse. Especially if the "Huffy" has a Campy Super Record groupset and Bora Ultra 80 wheels. |

OK, that took forever. I got busy with other projects, but finally got around to putting some stickers on my bike.
I liked the Huffy idea, but I'm not sure Huffy is well known outside the USA. La Policia sounded like fun, but I didn't want to piss off any real policias. So I went with a company known world wide for having low prices... some might say the purveyor of junk. I know these stores can be found everywhere. Will it actually deter a thief? I seriously doubt it, but it has generated a few chuckles from folks who see it. I'm off to Mexico on Wednesday and then start pedaling towards Tierra del Fuego. Hopefully the bike (and me) make it.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=517532http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=517533 |

You could put something literally written in Chinese on the down tube. Most people will recognize Chinese characters, even if they don't know what they mean.

Since we're talking about Chinese Ti, I vote for "Assplode Special".

Magna. Or POS.

I went the other way. I have used the "Carbonello" name on my last two fixed gear builds. On the latest I even painted the frame a faux carbon fiber look. If you get close it looks pretty cheesy but from 10 feet it looks pretty good.

You could paint it with plasti dip paint. It will peel off with no residue after it has dried. It can last quite a while if you want it too. That's what I painted the above bike with.

I looked at the OPs pics and I saw Wal-Mart ... and I also saw XT.
In the kind of places he is planning to ride, if it has tires on the rims it is thief-bait. |
I've never understood this thought. Any random opportunist won't care if it is a $50 Huffy or a $6000 Cervelo, so long as they can quickly turn it around for a couple bucks or make use of it on their own. Any true bike thief will be able to spot the components, and barring that know that something that looks like an exotic metal and weights nothing is probably valuable. In any case, even what we'd consider a cheap fully loaded tourer in most parts of the world is going to be an expensive oddity worth grabbing if left unprotected.
|
OP, I know Argentina and have to tell you that while you probably won't have any problems in the country or small towns, if you leave that bike unlocked by day or locked overnight in the street in a big city it will be stolen, Wal-Mart or not (as it will probably in any big city in the world).
