Unidentified Clipless Pedals
1 Attachment(s)
These pedals were on a used bike I purchased about a year ago. I slapped on some pedals I had lying around instead (I didn't have cleats or shoes to use yet). Now I'd like to invest in some shoes, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what kind of pedals these are to match some cleats with. Anyone know what these are and know where/how I can get some cleats for them? Thanks!

Is there a name or any identifying info on them? They look kinda like old Look or Shimano pedals but I can't be certain.

I think I see a Nashbar logo on the top of the pedals. I don't know what cleat they'd use, though.

Yea, that's a Nashbar logo. Depending on how long those pedals are, it looks like an SPD type cleat to me. There's a few pedals made by Shimano and others that use the two bolt SPD-compatable, or SPD-like pedals (that are similar but not compatable)
If you have a friend who has Shimano mountain bike pedals (probably the most common type) and shoes with SPD cleats, see if those cleats work in your pedals as a start. You might contact Nashbar customer service too with those photos, or look to see if they still sell a similar pedal online. If Shimano SPD cleats are similar but don't quite work right, look for some Wellgo (or Nashbar) SPD-type cleats. They will look similar but be a little different. I'm hoping you can find a friend with Shimano cleats and that they will work as that's the most straight forward solution. On the other hand, don't get super hung up on it. You can buy perfectly servicable pedals for less than $50 including cleats. Of course you can spend a lot more, but not to match the probably quality of the ones you have. |
My guess would be Shimano, I may even have one of these kicking around.
Agree with Camillo, toss these heavy old things and get a set of Look entry level. Cheap and light |
AFAIK, those used a proprietary cleat, similar to a SPD-SL cleat, but not interchangeable.

if "nashbar" then Welgo would have made them.. they rebadge tor big enough orders.

There's a current eBay auction for those same pedals, including the cleats. They don't look like any I'm familiar with.
