and am about to take the plunge. I'm a mid fifties recreational duathlete, presently riding a twenty year old full Campy Bianchi with tubulars(which are gettin pricy!) Would there be a noticeable time decrease on a new bike or should I just work harder on the Bianchi? Have been looking at a Trek 1000 and Fuji Aloha although the fuji doesn't come in my frame size, someone told me tri geometry is completely different road geometry and tha a smaller tri frame is the equivalent of a larger road frame. The Bianchi is 62cm and could easily be one more. Anyone had a positive experience buying a used bike, ie Ebay or is that someone elses trouble? I don't want to spend a ton of money on a new bike-I don't know how long my knees will hold up! any information would be greatly appreciated! thanks

Why not try craigslist? Then you get the chance to check out the bike from someone in your area, and you can see if it fits.
I got a used junker bike, but I went to a co-op and bought it. It still was all good.

Are you asking for a tri/tt bike or a normal road bike. For TT bikes it is normal to have 2 or more cm less than a road bike (my cervelo is a 61, trek is a 63cm).
