Bicycling, especially Road Cycling:
In addition to the cyclist who wear Assos:
Cycling has gotten so expensive a hobby nowadays ---- that anyone doing it is considered to be a 'snob.' Considered wealthy. That only such type are financially able to do such a hobby. That be one reason why so many who are jealous of another who has (esp a high-valued) a road bike. Add why such bikes are stolen. The type of owners perceived as.
Add the perceived value of the bike.

This is all-too-true. Especially, now-a-days. The man is the master of the bicycle.., not the other way around.

total baloney. cycling is only expensive as you want it to be.

there's plenty of decent quality, sub-$400 used bikes around...add the tools, pump, helmet, shoes, etc etc and you can easily be in the sport for well under $750.

that's not exactly a bank-breaker for most people that want to have a hobby.

if you want a cheap sport, be a runner.

I’m getting old and forgetful; people should simply be glad that I still remember to put some manner of pants on before I go out riding.

That daily showering though ... that is an intriguing idea.
For a brief moment in time, what I was wearing was fashionable. Back in the 90's, it was called grunge.

What speed do you intend to ride at?

That's all in relation to why my comment was deleted/removed. Noone else would have complained than you. As we all have the right to say what we want.

I read somewhere that Anarchists at the Spanish Civil War wore always blue mechanics overalls and considered other clothing as bourgeois.

it's not a complaint, it's a simple rebuttal of your flawed premise.

Truer words have never been spoken. Even if all you can afford is a 90's mtb for $75 and a pair of shorts, you can still get in plenty of cycling.

Play nice now, admins have minds too and actually administer, that's why we call them that.

I chose item #2 , "Just haven't had it explained properly."

I was once asked about my fashion philosophy, and my reply was "utilitarian, but appropriate"...works well for me, and makes getting dressed a challenge.

Idiot - haven't you ever seen a scifi movie? Silver unitards are clearly the ultimate garment, since that's what everyone wears in the future!
