Pain in lower thigh

Just done a 100 miler and about mile 70 i developed quite quickly a stinging pain in the lower part of my thigh.
I can only describe it as very local to an area about 3'' round and the pain i can say was like a very painful wasp sting, it got hot and although i rode it off being home now it is still sore and feels like a dead leg.
I've Googled the muscle and its the lower part of my Vastus lateralis about 2'' up from my knee.
Any thought?
Thanks

I've had a bit of first aid training. One symptom of a fracture is a very localized pain. You may have a stress fracture. Get to an MD and ask if an x-ray is called for. WELL done on the century ride.

I'd Guess a tendon strain of your muscle connecting to the bone , but of course the answer is Go See your GP MD.

The obvious question - do you see any evidence of a sting? I've been stung on the bike from wasps or bees on impact. The sting part doesn't seem possible to me but I had seen and felt the results.

(I hope for you it's a sting, unless you are one of those for whom they are a serious issue.)
