Sworks tarmac sl frame size.

Hi, guys am intending to get me self a Sworks Tarmac sl 2015 or 2016. I'm 177.5 cm in height with an inseam of 88 cm. Ape index is at 187.5. Looking at the sworks frame sizing chart. I fall between 54 and 56. Any ideas on which way I should go? It's gonna be a really pricey exercise, so I really wanna get this right before I commit. Thanks guys any help whatsoever is much appreciated.

As the other advice I have seen - err on the size of the smaller one, since you can always make it a bit bigger with stems and seat posts.

The too big will never get any smaller for you.

Can you ride the full bike/frame somewhere as a test?

Hi, better to err with a smaller frame, yup correct that's what I've read on many forums. Just a tad bit worried you know. It's really expensive. Anyways the problem with most of the shops here is that they don't have test bikes. So its rather unnerving. Was actually aiming for a Ridley Fenix sl 2016 but the sizings really confusing, some say they're way oversized and such so... Anyways thanks for the help. Guess I'll have to come to a conclusion on a size soon.

Go with the 54. You've got legs suited for a 56 with your inseam. But your overall height is right between 54 and 56. That means your upper body is relatively short compared to your legs. You are better getting a 54 with a longer stem than the other way.

What does the bike shop say about the size?

Hi well I got a size 54 and it's a great fit. Raised seatpost catered for my inseam and 120 handle stem suits my reach just fine . The bike shop also said 54, better to size up slightly than to try to size down which really hard. Thanks for the advice, it was really helpful. Much appreciated. 😊
