Bottle cage/bottle/frame fitment issues.

My Fuji Traverse is a S/M (17.5") frame and it looks like I'm going to have a hard time fitting a bottle on my seat tube as well as the down tube. I'd like to be able to carry two and something a good size like a Camelbak Podium Big Chill in at least one cage. Are there some cages out there that hold the bottle a little lower so I can possible fit two? I was looking at a pair of Arundel Sports as I can get two for $20 but after reading their dimensions, I think I'd have issues with two fitting in my frame.

Thanks for any input.

Perhaps the triathlon style that mounts behind the seat ?
Or old school handlebar mounts.

I have contemplated asking King cage to make a water bottle cage called, "my framebuilder put the seat tube water bottle mounts too high cage"

They used to sell a piggyback water bottle cage. Dunno if you can still get one or not.

I bought a bottle cage for my daughter who had an XS Giant bike. You popped the bottle out the side instead of straight up. Can't remember the brand or source, but you can probably search one out online and try it.

Have you tried mounting bottle cages on the frame? The bosses are usually laid out so that the cages don't interfere with each other. I had a look at the frame you have and it doesn't appear that there will be any issues with two bottle cages. I also looked at the Arundel cages and they have two sets of mounting holes, although my experience with plastic bottle cages has not been good. They work fine on the down tube but, on the seat tube, that tab at the bottom breaks off when you hit a bump with a full bottle. I have no specific experience with the Arundel cages. The ones that broke on me were from Performance Bike, but they were a similar design.

Thanks for the replies everyone,

I'm not too worried about finding two cages that will fit but finding two cages that will fit with larger bottles in them like the Big Chill. I think I'm SOL on my seat tube with any bigger bottles unless I can get the cage to hold the bottle lower. I'm going to look into the side loading cage idea. I really don't want the bottles behind the saddle or on the handlebars.

King Cage does have a solution for mounting water bottles anywhere, he has different products for sale on his Facebook page than his website. Looks like the Salsa Anything Cage has some competition now, in titanium.

King Cage does have my cage, but it's not on their site. "Dropper cage" drops the cage 1.2"

Sometimes the difficulty/limitation is being able to get the bottle in and out of the cages in compact frames. Side-loader cages can resolve this.

I've seen images of bottle cages that PIVOT when you take a bottle out or put one in.

Cheers

Topeak makes a mount that pivots: https://www.amazon.com/Topeak-15-Wate...k+bottle+mount

Lezyne makes a side loading cage: https://www.amazon.com/Lezyne-Side-Lo.../dp/B008R5L4VY

Thanks again everyone,

I'm digging that Lezyne Side Load Flow cage. A couple of those may be the ticket. Any other similar side loading ones out there I should consider before I pull the trigger on two of these? I see Arundel has a carbon one but it's only 10g lighter and $30ish more. I can get the Lezyne for $10 shipped. Am I over thinking this?

I really love my Arundel side loaders. SideLoader | Arundel Bicycle Company They let me pull the bottle sideways and put it back in the same way. I find it easier, even on frames that have room for a normal bottle.

One other question. I can get a pair of the Lezynes for $16 shipped. One left and one right. Why would I want one of each? It says one for the seat tube and one for the down tube. I'm right handed. Wouldn't two right handed ones be what I need or it is it easier to grab it off the seat tube from the left. Sorry for the stupid question, new guy here.

You need one R and one L because when you mount those the entry will be on the same side. One gets flipped around relative to the other because one is on the seat tube and one is on the down tube.

The podiums (especially the chill ones) are huge. I had trouble fitting them in the main triangle on my bikes, but then I tried some podium non-chills (larger capacity and smaller size) and these - they neatly fit in spaces where even a small podium chill won't, and hold 5 more ounces.

I don't think I'll be using chill bottles on anything other than <50 miles rides anymore, as they take up too much space for their low capacity. I can fit two 26 oz purists in a slanting top tube bike I could only fit one regular chill and one big chill before (21 and 24 oz) and they are easier to get in and out as they still aren't that tall, nor do they strain the cages the way the podiums did.
