I plan on ordering a 2017 Canyon Aeroad road bike and Canyon Lux 9.9 Team mountain bike. Anyone considering going that route?

I've seen them around but I don't really know much about them. What's the hype with Canyon bikes?

I think the hype is that they are sold direct to consumers. With no shop acting as the middleman, their prices tend to be lower. To answer the question, I'm in the market for a gravel bike that is compliant over the rough stuff. I don't know if Canyon makes a bike like that, but sure I'll consider them once I've had a chance to study their line-up.

Sponsoring teams that are in the Tour de France adds to the hype as well.

It will be interesting to see what is offered to the US. Europe usually gets the cool 'race' colors, we usually get the cold war colors. Same goes for motorcycles.
