Bike shorts (not bibs)
Searched around here and Google for this but it seems shorts always correlates to bibs. I'm looking to see what "the best" (subjective I know) bike short out there is.
I ride 60-100 miles a week ranging from 15 - 50 miles at a time.
All I've been using for kit is cheap stuff from the factories I deal with in China. Nalini, Jackaroo, etc. Just bought a pair of Assos H.Miller S7
It's not that I'm against bibs, it's more of a cost issue and ease of swimming with shorts vs a bib on

Someone must have paid off your search engine.
I did a quick search for bike shorts, padded bike shorts, and cycling shorts, and all three brought up a decent bunch of listings selling shorts, not bibs. Of course if you searched bib shorts instead of bike shorts then you get what you asked for.

Check out REI, their house brand (Novara) or Zoot tri shorts for swimming & riding. I just rode 30 miles with my Zoot shorts today.

I can't imagine what it would feel like to swim in a pair of cycling shorts with the padding heavy and soaked with water. At least with bibs the straps would keep them from sagging off of your backside.

Guys if you search bike shorts review or bike shorts forums.... You get reviews of bibs.
Looking for first hand experience not suggestions on where to buy them.
Brands, models, etc

What you are looking for are 'NOT BIBS'.
These are a very special type of cycling short, not readily available in the open market. Search 'NOT BIBS' on Bike Forums; you will find an earlier -- and very informative -- thread dedicated to this esoteric piece of apparel.
