What pedal are on your hybrid?

I ride with the cheap plastic pedals that came with my cannondale quick 4. It's a nice bike but needs upgraded pedals. I feel my feet slip when i down shift while pedaling fast. I dont want to spend more than $25. Found a couple of them I listed from amazon. What cheap upgraded pedals do you all have and what do you think of these?
I ride about 100 miles a week for fitness purposes

(price is a bit expensive , but you can catch on auction for a great price).
You can find a lot of similar type , i think those will works great and improve your bike looking (especially if you found some ergal color).

or

(i don't know the price but , with a first look seems they are pretty cheap).
Yea those one are for fixed/track bike but i think for a non aggressive hybrid will works as well and i think on the road you will be more comfortable.

Buone pedalate.
(Have a good riding time).

Hi Narb. To answer your original question I put on Wellgo B-184's on my Trek 7.4FX. These grip really well. I also replaced the "pins" with Wellgo's "V" pins. With these and grippy soled sneakers, I can pull back on the pedal and pedal in circles.

I'm very pleased. I'd also suggest that you look in to Xpedo pedals.

Good luck and best regards

Do you think those $50+ pedals you mentioned will be noticeably different than those I listed?

02Giant 06-10-16 03:19 AM

This one you linked; https://www.amazon.com/Roswheel-Moun...iglink20253-20

Looks to be a virtual copy of the Xpedo I use; http://www.xpedo.com/products/pedals.../96/faceoff-18

For quite a bit less $$

I have no complaints with my Xpedo's

Trewim 06-10-16 05:50 AM

Shimano saints. $59 on ebay. Great pedals.

For my beater bike I'm in love with the double sided platform/SPD clipless pedals. If I'm going farther than about 3 miles, I like being clipped in.

:thumb: Indeed. Question to OP. Any reason why you don't want to go to clipless? Many fine clipless pedals with a platform on the other side for shorter, more casual rides. I know there is the initial cost of a pair of cycling shoes but once you have them, you should be good for many years.

Odsessy Triple Traps, they're cheap, hold up really well, are serviceable, last forever and your feet will never slip off them. Put a set on my 2016 Fuji Crosstown, have 2500 miles on them and they spin smoothly. Have a another set on my 2001 Giant Cypress, 15 years old, serviced them once, at least 30,000 miles on them, and they still spin free.

Cannondale 6Point3's. They are more than $25 on ebay but are a great platform.

Yu know what I hate about Amazon. Half the reviews are from people who got discounted items for giving their honest review. Two reasons i hate this: they get a better deal than you, and their review is most likely high for getting it discounted which raises the review up. Unfair and unfair!!

Please explain how this works.

I have an Amazon Prime membership, I have left several reviews for items I purchased, I've never received a discount for it.

Narb 06-10-16 06:01 PM

That's not what I meant. Go read some reviews on items with a lot of reviews. And at the end of the review it states" i've recieved a discounted item for my honest review."

VegasTriker 06-10-16 06:18 PM

I have pedals similar to the XLC pedals in the first Amazon offering on my recumbent trike. They were switched from a previous trike and must have well over 15K miles on them by now. There is a set of XLC pedals in the drawer waiting for those to finally need replacing. The reason I like them is that I use a set of $5 mini toe clips (no straps) to keep my feet firmly in place when I ride the trike. I can get off the trike and walk comfortably in my riding (ordinary) shoes. Buying clipless pedals is only the start because then you need to get shoes to match the attachment. Most of the recognizable name pedals (Crank Bros, Shimano, Look) are going to be a a lot more than $15.

Really ? I need to check in on that, and if it's true, you are right, it isn't a unbiased review. I have never seen that and I've read hundreds of reviews, I've also wrote at least twenty reviews and never received or have been offered a discount.

have these on 2 hybrids, love em

Go to your local shop and get metal pedals and hopefully they don't get stolen, Someone came into the shop today and his cheap plastic pedals were stolen from his bike...it is friggin' ridiculous. I can see going after Look or Shimano but cheap-o stock plastic pedals on a low end hybrid, really?

I took a couple of minutes to read some reviews, one product had 160 reviews averaged a 4.3, the other 291 reviews with a 4.5 average. I didn't read all 451 reviews, but I scanned many and didn't find what you reference. I am not saying it doesn't exist but "Half" ??? I read quite a few of the reviews posted, especially for products I am considering when I have no prior experience with them.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it wouldn't make a difference if I was given an item for free, if it is crap it isn't getting a positive review.

Link an item that you are referring to. I spend a lot on Amazon, I would like to see what it is you suggest.

fietsbob 06-11-16 08:27 AM

big flat pedals and 2" wide fixie straps on 1 side..

Me ? Cheap ? MKS 3000R .. their rubber block "dutch" pedal with reflectors molded in the rubber..

only cheap because I've had them for 30 years & was on closeout back then; Campagnolo BMX (MKS makes one of the type)
