I have come across people who fear or are otherwise concerned about skinny tires. They seem to think they'll be unstable, tricky to ride or lack traction. They aren't and they don't, except perhaps on loose or soft surfaces. Big fat tires are no more stable or easier to ride on hard surfaces.

I went looking for a bike and the most difficult thing was to find a store that had a bike in my size (XL or 62ish depending on the mfr sizing). My wife has had similar problems but not as much. All LSB's say that fit is the most important thing in purchasing a bike and while I agree most stores (for me) don't have a bike to try. There's a place in Pa. that for $275 will spend a lot of time fitting you then tell you the bikes on the market that can be tweaked to this fit. A good idea as a service but a bit out of reach financially. I suppose if your in the market for a $2K and up bike then $275 may be OK don't know.
