Has ANYONE ridden 300K miles?

Is this plausible for more than maybe 100 people in the world?
Thanks

In the late '80s 'Bicycling' magazine did stories on bikers who put in the most miles the previous year. The 'winner' was a mentally-challenged young man who was incapable of any work (so he said), lived with his father, rode a department-store bike 150 miles daily just to pass the time. I guess that was possible, then again the notion that he did may have been a symptom of his mental challenge. Second place was a professional triathlete who lived in Santa Monica and trained on the PCH, did about 15K.

Sure. At 10,000 miles a year you'll get there in just 30 years.

Jobst Brandt was still averaging 10,000 miles a year at age 75.

My guess it is far more than 100 people in the world, but maybe in the low thousands. Not necessarily because more people can't do the distance, but there is little motivation to do it.

I'm seeing that pro riders will ride about 500 miles a week during the season, and 250 or so during the off-season. What is that??? Maybe 20,000 miles a year? How long is their pro careers? 10 to 20 years? It would add up. Even amateur racers might rack up the miles.

Then those few long distance riders that put in a heck of a lot more miles than that in a year.

Bike Messengers?

My guess there are also some avid bike commuters that can tip the 10K mark, which could add up to 300K over 3 decades.

I wish I had the time, but with work, a family, there is no time. I will be doing a ride from Sapporo to Nagasaki in the fall, and it is a struggle to put together the free time necessary. I am still dreaming of riding across America. When I was younger, I hiked across the country, it would be much better to go by bicycle.

Jens took that number and blasted past it years ago. Because Jens....

I knew a man who in the 1970's and 80's routinely rode 20,000 miles a year, year after year. He now lives out of state, so I don't know how he's riding now, but I know he's still riding. I'd think he'd have to be way beyond 300,000 by now.

I've ridden 300,000+ miles on tandems and single bikes since the early 1970s.
Now at age 83 still ride 100 miles every week.
My wife has ridden 250,000 (quarter million) miles with me on tandem bicycles in the last 42 years.

Tommy Godwin rode 100,000 miles in 500 days! And that on a 3 speed back in 1940.
