Status update...
I've been off here for a while. I turned 60, and my former employer decided not to renew my work contract. (They put all their employees on contracts a couple of years ago.) Anyway, after 16 years in the desert, I had to move for new employment. I landed in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Making less, paying less. I guess I can't complain--- a lot of people look a lot longer for a job... especially at 60. Closer to all our family now, which is a plus. The biggest trauma was moving. Some pretty good riding around here, too! Plus, some decent microbreweries. Funny, but I realize that I missed the trees--- I guess the Irish/Druid/hillbilly/Taoist part of me was getting a little sunburned. Now, if I can just get over the feeling that I'm being waterboarded... Humidity is 'way higher! When life gives you lemons... get the rest of the stuff and make margaritas! :thumb:

Enjoy the scenery. :thumb:
Don't forget to post in the Southeast Regional subforum to find local folks to ride with. |
Welcome to Fayetteville! I live here and have since College. I travel for work and get to see all sorts of places but you know what? I still love coming home. There is some great riding around here, from the back country roads to the Razorback trail, you should be able to find something you like. Look here for some local rides or join one of the group rides.... Ozark Cycling Adventures | Cycling Information in Arkansas | Bicycle Love from The Natural State
PM me if you want to go for a ride on the weekend. My partner and I ride the trail a lot and we find some back roads to ride too. It's mostly hilly around here with some hills rated cat 2-5. I haven't seen a Cat 1 climb around here, but if you like climbing this is the place to be. If you want more flat terrain, head down to Fort Smith, there is some great riding down there. We go down there from time to time and ride a 50 mile loop that is mostly flat with some rollers. |
I grew up in Texas, but I love Arkansas. One of the most beautiful states, IMO.
Do not put lemon in margaritas. Just don't. |
