Favorite postride recovery food/beverage?

For me it's whatever protein shake is on sale @ the local supermarket. Today it was an Odwalla Chocolate- after a 56 mile effort that thing tasted great the minute I got home. You?

Chocolate milk, made with real cocoa, brown sugar, vanilla extract, instant coffee, mixed with an immersion blender to a high froth. Some may like cinnamon too.

This works well with dry milk, which I used to use before I figured out that fresh is now half the price. I also use a spoonful of yogurt because this is the only dairy I eat.

Chocolate milk. If the ride was really long or higher intensity, ice cream is my go to. Had a chocolate malt crunch waffle cone after my last century, the best ice cream I've ever had.

Anything within reach, except for milk or whey protein. For me, it increases pain and stiffness the next day, which is the opposite of recovery.

Enjoy it if you can, I guess.

^^^ ^^^. MMMMMMM - Got Chocolate Milk?

In the High Heat of the ' Dog Days ', I'm usually out the door by 04:30 - 05:30 to get in 2 - 3 hrs, before it really starts Cookin' out on the asphalt. Getting back home, I'll mix instant coffee and ground cinnamon into the chocolate milk.

A big glass (or two) of water while cooling off (and scanning BF ). Usually follow that a little while later with orange juice and some breakfast (oatmeal, yogurt, donuts, or ???). I don't listen to all that advertising cloaked as marketing pseudo-science about proteins, carbs, specialty recovery drinks, or other foods no matter what pro athlete is promoting it for the manufacturer (for a fee, of course!).

Fortunately, a good ride reduces my appetite, except for cold liquids with no calories.

Immediately after the ride I have a protein shake (Isopure zero carb). Then after I shower I have a large fuji apple and two roma tomatoes. Hits the spot for me. Every once in a while I will have a banana as well, but that is pretty seldom. Other than that I just rehydrate with water.

Are you sure you know what "Cookin' is?

Out last night at 11:43PM still in mid eighties with high humidity. Just had a rain shower go thru so t's looking good for a midnight departure for 3-4 hours. Come home to a combo of Nutrisystem milk chocolate shake and O'Doul's NA beer. Taste is like an old fashioned Coke Cola float just missing the vanilla ice cream. Prefer to get in 60 to 100 miles before the sun rises for my longer days.

Skim milk and potato chips are good for me.
Often then, an ice coffee.
Depending upon mood, a couple of beers.

I've always preferred a few smokes and a couple pints of Guinness. But I never mix a pickle with a little slap and tickle.

You must be younger, or a lot stronger than me. I generally have water, possibly milk with some Hershey's syrup (chocolate syrup, for those outside N. America).

Then after a shower I might have a beer, or a G&T, or a Negroni. I generally ride in the afternoon, and so my ride ends at about the cocktail hour. At least, it's the cocktail hour somewhere.

Pizza or fried chicken. I try to eat the latter when I tour because it's often hard to find really good pizza in many places.
