Pricepoint out of business

I have purchased a lot of product from Pricepoint.com over the years - from parts and accessories to full bikes. I always had a good experience, thought they had good pricing and product selection, and pretty decent customer service.

Apparently they closed for good a couple days ago. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere else on BF.

It has been talked about but I don't think all that much. Their blowout sales during the end were outstanding. I was getting $60--$100 mtb jerseys for $20. I also picked up about 20 tubes for $1 each.

That place will definitely be missed.

Ouch. I was looking for a crankset and kept getting redirected to the same page at pricepoint. Only upon the 5th try did I read the redirect page more closely: "It's been a great ride" Uh oh.

I would rather have them stick around, but if they were going, I would have loved to get in on that blowout sale. $20 jerseys and $1 tubes? Nice.

Sad. I received a few emails from them advertising a big blowout sale. I thought it was just a clearance sale.

+1

I grabbed some uber cheap tubes, rim tape, and cables plus a $60 Cateye computer for $17

Too bad. I've used them a lot since Nashbar betrayed all its users.

how did Nashbar betray all their users -- was it the free subscription to Bicycling?

No, back a few (bunch of) years they got hacked. They knew it, but they 'investigated' for 6 months without telling their customers. They finally got around to telling me the day after my new credit card came in the mail, after my old one had shown several unauthorized charges. For my inconvenience, they offered me a coupon for 10% off, good for 10 whole days. I figured anybody who took them up on that deserved to be compromised again. (And a few apparently were.)

If I avoided all retailers who have been there, my approved vendor list would be very short.

It's not that they got hacked, that can happen to any business. It's that they didn't admit it for 6 months.

Right at the end, I think they sold back their inventory. The deep discount items on the last day were pretty much things that had their branding or were otherwise out of date or generic. They did have 520 SPD pedals for fifteen bucks, though!

It was weird to wake up and not have their email in my inbox! I've wound up on a lot of mailing lists due to entering contests on MTBR, they were one.

Owner was not that interested in the Investment returns , any more

Real Estate, as the Bubble re inflates, gets More expensive and So has better ROI.

Facebook fed me an ad for PricePoint the other day. It said there was a sale at their location - not online. Offers on Kali helmets and GP4000S II tires. It didn't seem to come from their old FB page. I wondered if it was some zombie software or what. I can't find it again.

That stinks. Feels like a death in family.
Used 'em a lot few years ago when I was restoring a POS.
