It's not a $1500 bike but it's worth $100.

Is that really carbon? Looks AL to me.
In any case, it is very likely worth $100, although I'd personally worry it was stolen, myself. If it looks too good to be true, and all that....

When the bike was new in 2007, its MSRP was $770, so the buyer's exaggerating (or mis-remembering) the original price. And it's aluminum, not carbon as advertised. You can see welds in the pics. But the bike is well worth the $100 asking price if it fits you.
Speaking of fit, this bike is very small. It looks like it might be a 44 cm frame, which was the smallest size offered. To put it in perspective, my 12-year-old daughter who's just over five feet tall rides a 47 cm frame. And the Specialized Dolce was marketed as a women's model, which sometimes means a shorter top tube than comparably-sized frames. If you're a petite individual, this bike might fit. Otherwise, take a pass.
As for the possibility of being stolen... I don't think it's too likely. The bike's going on 10 years old and it looks like it was barely ridden. My guess is that someone thought they'd enjoy cycling, bought this bike, and it just sat in the garage taking up space and gathering dust 'til now.

It definitely has 3 front sprockets, so it is not a 16 speed
$100 isn't a bad price for that bike. Even $200.
However, as SkyDog75 mentioned, it is a very small bike. Good for a kid's first 700c bike (those are 700c, right?), or for a small woman.

Small bike for a short person. Also, the deal seems TOO good; I'd be worried that it's stolen, or maybe that the whole posting is a trap. Go with another person, and get ID from the person you buy it from.

The only reason I'd think it was stolen is they seem to have gotten so many details wrong about the bike. However, I think it is just owned by someone who isn't very knowledgeable about bikes. This line from the ad says it all..."I put in new rubbers recently." I assume they mean inner tubes. I would think a stolen bike ad would have a very little information. This one has a whole lot of type. Most of it just isn't correct.

As a long-time CL'er, the ad looks totally legit to me. Punks generally don't elaborate much on the item with mundane details and backstory. Value, like beauty, really IS in the eye of the beholder. You'd be surprised how little people value some things that other people might find quite valuable. To this guy it's probably: 1. old bike, 2. used to seeing it and no longer value it, 3. just want it gone.
If the bike fits, ride it!
