Cogset Question
I am riding a 11-28 right now sram cassette.
Is it possible to change it to a 13-32. I want to remove the 11 and 12 for a 16 and a 32. is that possible. |
This link takes you to the SRAM website and shows you all the compatible components for road bikes:
https://sram-cdn-pull-zone-gsdesign....components.pdf It doesn't appear they offer a 13-32 cassette; 12-32 is the best they can do if your bike is a 10-speed. If you're riding an 11-speed the options are more limited. If you decided to go with SRAM's 12-32 cassette you might have to replace your rear derailleur. Your local bike shop can tell you if that will be necessary or you could probably post a pic on this forum and get an answer as to whether it's a short-cage or mid-cage derailleur. That said, Shimano and SRAM components are sometimes cross-compatible and Shimano may make a 13-32 cassette. The experts on this forum (I'm not one of them!) or at your LBS could probably help you out on that question, or check out the Shimano website/tech help. |
Shimano & Sram are practically all interchangeable. Shimano makes rear freehub cogs with 32 teeth. Make sure your rear derailleur can handle the extra size. I put a Shimano extended range 7 speed w/34 teeth cog set on a bike recently. But, had to change out to a long cage RD.

Also consider changing your crankset/chainrings to achieve the gearing you desire.
For example, if you have a "standard" 52/39, consider a compact 50/34. If running a compact, then maybe some MTB crankset with even lower gearing. |
