Why are these so cheap?

Hey ya'll. Unfortunately my bike was just stolen last night and since i use my bike for work i'm immediately looking to build up a new one. I came across this one seller on ebay that sells these frames for a prices that seem far too cheap. Although, i'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to these things. so i just though i'd ask your opinion to see if you guys think these frames would be a fair and safe purchase. i really like some of them but i just feel like they should cost more money. again, i may be totally wrong but i just need an opinion. Here's the ebay store -

Great deals from The Pros Closet | eBay Stores

i'm totally ok with paint chips, and the like, as long as its not compromising the health of the frame. thanks so much in advance.

The Pros Closet is not know for being inexpensive, in fact quite the opposite. I saw the link you provided and nothing stood out as a great deal. Even the one's that look promising have no fork, headset or bottom bracket. Add those to a frame and the price goes way up.

As for safe, the PC is reputable and they have been in business for a long time. They have a great Feedback score.

Pro's Closet is a brick & mortar here in Boulder: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Th...!4d-105.256505

I've shopped with Pros Closet about half a dozen times, and paid around half what comparable auctions were ending at for similar items. Paid $40 for a Thomson Elite seatpost, and got my EC90 Equipe handlebar for $66. I've never heard anyone mention them being overpriced.

I've always found the auction-style listings to be very fairly priced. Their BIN-only auctions are often set a little higher than I'd like, but are still very fair relative to the rest of the market. They also ship lightning fast, which is just an awesome bonus.

They are reputable. I just bough a 2014 BMC SLR01 frame from them. It was a good deal for sure. They usually do consignment sales but may also buy frames to resell...not sure. I know they do consignment sales for others.

Sorry about your bike. What kind of bike you plan on building?
If you are interested in complete bikes. Some good deals going on.
Bought A few bikes from Raleigh online and one from Performance.

Pros Closet is reputable and has been around for a long time -- a decade maybe? If not longer? I've never thought of their prices as being low per se, but rather they are in what I would term "The Reasonable Zone". I've probably bought from them in the past, but I don't remember specifically.

BTW, The Pros Closet once got a prominent mention by President Obama:

Obama mentions The Pro's Closet founder in letter on TPP | Bicycle Retailer and Industry News

How cool is that?

Good solid reputable people at Pro's Closet, I've gotten some auction items and BIN things from them. Just watch your prices and spend wisely, you could end up with a pretty nice bike without breaking the bank.

I've bought a good half dozen items from the Pros Closet. I really like the place, they ship fast, answer questions quickly, and often have great prices. Very reputable place, imo.

I have found PC to be very reliable to deal with. Never bought a frame but everything else has been 100% accurate as described. Cheap? That's up to you to decide.

I browse their ebay store often and have ordered from them once. Everything was good. For the things i usually look at (saddles lately), the prices are pretty good to me & some lower than i'd expect to see. I haven't checked out their frames but once a long time ago though, so i have no opinion there. They have a website you can look through to find more info on who they are & what they do (consignments, etc).

I recently bought from them, but have yet to receive my order (a Sugoi Zap jacket). I usually browse their cycling apparel sections, they offer reasonable shipping costs to my country (or at least I save so much for an item, compared to buying locally, that even with S/H it's convenient to me).

This post feels a lot like an ad. Hmmm....

Story not consistent. Tone of one who's lost a bike - not enough lamentation over the loss. Also, the "need for work" and "build one up" has incongruous time horizons. Finally, the "build one up" and "not very knowledgeable when it comes to these things..." do not harmonize well. I'd say, not credible.

BTW - I really like the Pro's Closet. I've purchased a few hard-to-find items from them. Always more than satisfied with the value. PG

I too agree with everyone here. I just bought a pair of campy rims ( early 90 ish) with HG shimano hubs, 7 speed. They were flawless, and well packed. Someone took care of them, previously.
