Welcome to Bike Forums. Maybe you're referring to a bicycle trainer?

Trainers and cheap really are not words that go together. Performance bike sell and house brand and they have a $20 off $100 purchase coupon out. Also nashbar sell a house brand . These might be your best bet for price.

Along this topic, has anyone seen a trainer that is just two large rollers, with no adjustable fricton wheel, no stand, per say, just a low profile platform with two rollers? I swear I saw the riders using one before the time trials in the Tour De France last year.

I have one. They're called "rollers" (surprise!). They're very good for developing your handling skills. You can hook up a resistance unit to the rollers to build your strength as well.

Personally, I no longer use my rollers because it's too challenging to be constantly vigilant about staying within the edges, especially during hard interval workouts. I slipped off my rollers a couple of times and I don't want that to happen again.
