Garmin 810: Turn off the dreaded Virtual Partner

As the title says. The Garmin manual is basically worthless and I just want to turn off the Virtual Partner when I've plotted a route or am just going for an unplanned ride.

Any other tips/hints would be appreciated also. I used to be quite tech savvy, but the settings and different modes etc on this unit are driving me nuts

TIA

On my 800 it is in the settings for each individual route. I don't think you can turn it off globally, but you can disable the virtual partner page. With the page disabled you get an announcement when the VP finishes if you don't disable it for a route.

Virtual partner would be slightly less annoying if you could set the speed on the Garmin itself. I think ride with gps routes use a fixed duration, which on longer routes has my virtual partner doing 200 kph.

Ok. Thanks. I'll look into it.

Haha! It's ridiculous, isn't it. It's a great thing to have, if you use it. Not so much if you don't.

I messed around with the Garmin for an hour or so. I have not long had the unit and so haven't used it that much. It's a bit overwhelming with all the data and pages etc but I think I managed to turn off the VP.
