Too many things going on this "Winter break". breaking down some free bikes. Also playing around with this saved from the dump Taiwan Raleigh that's almost done. Mish-mash of parts with a repaint.

'82 Batavus, getting Campy 9sp triple. - unfinished but pics below.
Bringing 4 bikes into the house with wooden floortoceiling racks - pending delivery. Trying to justify removing good but older tubulars, for newer fatter ones. Contingency plan for late Winter/early Spring cycling somewhere south of Seattle. |
cyccommute and all of your titanium bikes. Awesome new frame. A for laughing at winter projects, it depends on how short your winters are! We had maybe 2 weeks of cold. :winter2: All this week it's in the 70s.
Anyway, recently finished rehabbing a '95 Stumpjumper http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...psbcryig05.jpg Trying to sell another bike to get the funds to getting my Schwinn Prologue back on the road. It's down to fork, frame and headset. And then it will come down to deciding how I want to build it up again. Lucked out and someone was selling a NOS Dura Ace bottom bracket over on the C&V page (cranks need a 112.2 mm spindle, the old DA bottom brackets are the only ones I think that use that size). The price was right on it. I need a new stem, outer chainring, and consumables and I can build her up as I received her, but I am also playing with doing a resto mod. So many decisions... |

I've never liked recumbents but that ^ is a cool bike I'd definitely ride. :)
Agreed! I'd rather ride it than be sawed in half by that chainring! :D |

However, looking back at Chicago's weather over the last month, it doesn't look all that bad either. I've ridden through worse...there ain't no seasons for bicycling as far as I'm concerned:thumb: |

I picked up this really clean '85 Miyata 100 off CL. Only thing broken was the rear D cable. After I WD-40'd the chain and pumped up the tires I was riding around the neighborhood in the small/small gear combo.
http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...psdb7spwzt.jpg Then I promptly striped it down for a fixed gear project. :) Already found a new wheelset for cheap, and have other parts (some new and some from my stash) to fancy it up to my liking. The paint and decals on this triple butted chrome moly frame are near mint. Fun times! http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...psfdry19hb.jpg http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...pswkgh82zb.jpg http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...psygcikkgv.jpg http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...psklytabho.jpg Let's see your winter project! :) |

Whether it be a small or large project, anyone working on anything? :)
Ive decided now that I have a road bike, my Cadent can be more geared towards cruising and leisure. Installed a back rack (which isnt level, kind of driving me crazy) and will be taking the tires off my old Trek 7500 which are a bit wider. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...105_143954.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...105_160602.jpg Show me what youre doing~ Shake this winter cabin fever. :thumb: I can't post pics, but I'm rebuilding a cx bike. It is currently set up on a KHS CX-200 frame with 105 kit, FSA wheels, TRP mini v brakes, with tt shifters and in-line brake levers on bullhorn handlebars. I now have Gevenalle CX1 levers and Salsa Cowbell 3 handlebars on the way, and will change my crankset to a 1x with a narrow-wide ring. I may change the cassette if I can find something good for cheap. I am considering moving all of the parts, however, over to my Devinci Caribou II, which has a more relaxed position, more mounting points, and internal cable routing. |
My last bike was stolen from my son at 4:00 in the afternoon at gunpoint in front of the reliquary. He was a high school freshman then. So I haven't ridden for a while now. I have a vespa scooter too. Anyway the wife bought herself a new bike so I need to start riding again with her, or she will never ride again. It's hot here in Houston all summer. anyway the same son got hold of a Japanese Mixte last year and I now have it. So as soon as I deliver a paying furniture project, next week, I intend to start tearing the bike down for a total rebuild. I bought new rims, tires, and Strumy Archer hubs, Drum brake/dynamo, and drum brake/5speed and strung the new spokes. I have the new Brooks seat and grips now. So in a week or so I will take the bike totally apart for paint, maybe powder coat. I'll get a before pic on here soon.
