Roof Rack Recommendations?
I know the Thule works well, but is a little pricey. I've used the Performance Xport and it was a solid product for the money, but they told me it is not designed to fit my new car, a Mazda 3 hatchback. How do the Saris and Yakima compare? Anyone have a favorite to recommend? Thanks, Mike

I think that Yakima is an exact Thule equivlent. I'd rate Saris as a step behind but still a good product.
My personal preference is Thule but I think that's because I have much more experience with Thule than the others. |

I use a Yakima as well, well I don't use my Yakima roof rack anymore cause I have a Jeep now, but I have a Yakima hitch carrier, very good quality.

Yakima/Thule pretty much equivalent. I bought Thule mainly for the better fit kit availability for cars sold in Europe and Australia (one of which I'll probably move to in a few years).
Agee's Bike have them both 20% off, free shipping, no tax outside Virginia. Sale ends May 30. I bought mine from here about 2 months back, and was very happy with the service. One of my bike trays was damaged in shipping and they sent a new one out immediately. |
I'll throw in another vote for Yakima. I've used their racks for years and they're very well-built. Yakima claims their round bars are stronger than Thule's square bars and offer more mounting options. Aside from the bar shape I can't detect a lot of difference between the two systems.

Add one more vote for Yakima, great product and I've used them for 15 years on 6 different vehicles. :)
