Considering I ride around 40-50 miles a day to stay in shape you'd think I'd have a lot more than the two I actually have. Hoping to change that this year.

It appears that no question is too personal, silly or juvenile for some of our BF comrades. That so many BFers are happy to provide an answer to any question or inquiry is no longer surprising.

I used to get two jerseys per bibs, but trainer time I go through bibs faster than jerseys, so now it's 1:1.
I have probably a dozen full sets of summer kit. (short bibs and jersey) and maybe 5 sets of fall kit (knicker bibs and long sleeve jerseys and/or jackets) and maybe 3 sets of winter kit (bib tights and jackets). Maybe a dozen base layers and long sleeve jerseys for layering. 3 sets of leg/knee warmers (one each blue, white and black), and 3 sets of arm warmers, two that match kit, one black set.
At this point I can ride until I have a full load for the washing machine, making sure I hang them to dry for a day before tossing in the hamper.

I don't have any bike shorts. But I do have 6 pairs of bibs (Sugoi, De Marchi, Endura, PI). I tried bibs in 2004 (after wearing shorts for 4 years) and never looked back.

The confusion may be between the skin-tight shorts meant to be worn externally, and the similar looking liners for baggy or mountain biking shorts. The liners look pretty much like other tight shorts, although some have thinner material or are cut a little shorter in the thigh. The liners are usually detachable -- held by fabric loops with snaps or velcro. But the padded crotch material is still sewn into the liners. I usually remove the padded liners from baggies and wear Champion boxer/briefs. I don't need the padding with padded saddles.
Kucharik offers a tailoring and repair service to replace pads in their shorts, if a customer prefers a different type of padding or just needs to replace older padding. But it's still all sewn in.

I've probably got around 12 pair, half bibs and half not. They have been accumulating over the years. I've got a pair of old Pearls that I need to throw out but they are more comfortable than some of the expensive stuff that I own. Sadly, these are like a 2010 model and they seem to change shape, size, etc. every year.

10 or 12, I guess. Current season kit is primarily for races and team rides, previous seasons for training/commuting. Torn/opaque bibs go in the winter bin for wear on the trainer or under tights.

Still not quite clear. The chamois on my Aerotechs are sewn in, but what it sounded like you were saying is that the chamois is changeable on the ones you were talking about.
The diapers have a couple of advantages - much cheaper than chamois, and dry much faster. One can hand wash a modern bike short, hang it up to dry, and it's usable the next day.
I'd like to say that real men rode on real chamois, but real chamois is much more comfortable, IMO, than the pads, so maybe it's wimpishness that makes me long for this old material....
Last time I looked, Aerotech sold pads that could be sewn into shorts.
I-Like-to-Bike forces me to ask: What's the best bike short for use on ... oh, forget it. :-)

This is kind of a weird thread. I can't figure what use OP will make of the responses. Nevertheless, I have more (bibs) than I need. This is a good policy, IMO. If you don't know exactly how many you might need, better to have more. if you do know exactly how many you need, you might want one extra pair, just in case. What you want to avoid is having fewer than needed, for obvious reasons. Now about that toenail fungus....

Four. Got my first pair in '09 and they are worn out. The next bib short shoulder straps are coming apart, but I can use them until they fail. My two relatively new Aero Tech Design shorts are the best with thin padding. I also have a Brooks.
