Strava Users Unite!
I use strava! Who else does? Maybe we can all join up and start a group on strava of just add each other. Thoughts?

/thread as opposed to this one? https://www.strava.com/clubs/bikeforums or hey, maybe this one? https://www.strava.com/clubs/41-Addiction |
Always room for another one. Make it "invite only" for just the "serious cyclists".
|
I'd join, but I'm afraid my stats would prove once and for all that old steel gaspipes beat CF wonderbikes :P
|
And one for Freds only.
|
I ride on fantastic, High Sierra roads almost completely unsullied by the likes of other cyclists. Now, why on Earth would I want to ruin all of that by advertising them on Strava?
|
Don't worry, Scarbo, everywhere else has their own roads, too.
|
Why would I want to unite with bunch of argumentative know-it-all narcissists?

The point I'm actually making is that many of those roads--wherever they might be--remain Strava-free, believe it or not. And that suits me just fine. |
I joined Strava because I started riding roads like your treasures, Scarbo. I've been able to ride a bike for years without it and I don't really care if I climbed the hill near my house faster or slower today than usual. But I've been looking at their global heat map for a couple years to find new places to ride. I felt like I ought to share my data with them, to give something back for the help I've enjoyed in selecting routes.

How can you unite if, wasn't if a problem with altitude readings having all of you on a mountain or below sea level? Or maybe I'm mixed up with some other tech whizbang thing. I rarely carry an AM radio for the oldies station down the road anymore.

I'm on Strava. But I'm internet paranoid so I'd rather not join any BF groups.
Besides, once everyone knew how slow I was I would lose my Internet superiority. |

Oh, don't I know it. You post so many pics of the PNW; some of them many times over.

I know for a fact that certain of these roads are not. I have ways of finding these things out. :D I prefer to blaze my own trails. But, I'll grant you that it is becoming harder and harder to do especially in a place like California, which is so damned populous. It is really hard to get away from all the people and cars and other flotsam here. Difficult, but not impossible. |

Live long and strava free.
edit: In the future internet, Strava users who can't meet 'standards' will have their medical and life insurance premiums increased. Beware. |
I'm on Strava and use it mainly as a logging tool for my annual mileage. Some friendly comp between friends can be fun. I do belong to one small cycling club.
But I am not interested in having loads of followers, too much hassle and I have had other riders ask too many questions. You know, you get a chance to ride during the week then you get the few morons that want to know why you were at home, what your boss will say for taking a day off, all that bull! :twitchy: |
I have used Strava for quite a few years but mostly because I rode with a club for the last 8 years. Medical conditions have slowed me over the last year and sometime in January I backed off of the regular group rides. Strava is more to show my old friends that I am still out there even if at a more relaxed pace and shorter distance.
I will admit to a pointless goal a few years back. There was, and I am sure there still is several riders posting that they can and do run down roadies in a pace line using their MTB. Now I also have a MTB and it isn't that old or heavy but I know for a fact that I could never match my road bike pace with my MTB unless we were on a dirt road. So when one of the posters would make the claim of running down pace lines I would look to see if they were on Strava. Once in a while they are and then it is easy to see how they really ride. But to be honest once a supposition that a person is blowing hot air is proven it simply doesn't seem worth it to go back and point out the exaggeration. I now realize it was unwarranted pride on my part and that most people didn't believe it anyway. So now I have gone back to just posting on Strava so my friends know I am still alive and riding. |
