Orange wheels - what frame color?
I built some nice wheels for my fixed gear bike, Mavic Open Pro rims on a first gen Dura Ace front hub, and a vintage Nashbar sealed bearing flip flop rear, with DT butted spokes. Yesterday I bought some wheels on CL, barely ridden Velocity Deep V rims on Phil Wood Classic chrome track hubs with straight DT spokes. The rims only have machined brake tracks on the front, the rear wheel has an even coat continuous paint or powder coat. The downside is that the rims are ORANGE!
Oh but if they were black or silver. I'm going to build another FG bike and am going to paint a vintage steel Colnago frame.
What the heck color to paint the frame? I was thinking black but then the bike will look like Halloween taffy.

If given any choice, I'd go with yellow or red. With yellow, I'd go with orange or red handlebar tape. With Red, I'd go with orange or yellow handlebar tape. Get the pattern?

Orange is Tough
So, the monochrome look might be a pale peach frame. Pick up white in the saddle and bar tape. Kind of like a creamsicle.
You've already received enough helpful inputs. I might add to avoid pink or lavender frames...

Now, about that vintage Colnago frame -- please tell me you're not going to cut off the RD hanger and braze-ons before you repaint!

The Colnago frame isn't cherry, and I'm going to have to find a mismatched fork for it. I will decide if to remove braze ons after glass beading. If I remove braze ons, it will just be the brake cable guides and the top of BB der cable guides, leaving the shifter bosses. I'm not cutting the der hanger.

Here's a vintage Colnago that has a light blue that might look great with those orange rims:

Sometimes removing the braze-ons is the right thing to do. My 71/72 Colnago Super had braze-on cable guides that had been added by the previous owner. I had those removed when I had the frame restored and repainted.
