Please Help

My son just bought a Vertical Aftershock bike from a local bike swap at his middle school. The model # is 8526-24N. His pedals are coming apart as in one of the nuts holding the cleat bracket fell off and he lost it. I have tried two local fastener suppliers in town and we could not match the thread with anything! Is this a special thread or what?! I got it to thread a little bit onto a 10mm-1.5 but not enough to tighten it up. Please help with this issue as I can find nothing online about this bike.

Can you post a photo?

All bikes come with either 9/16 inch or 1/2 inch pedals. It sounds to me like you may just need to replace the pedals.

If you got a M10 X 1.5 to start then it's likely M10X1.25 or possibly even M10 X 1.0 (common rear derailleur thread). You can try auto parts stores also. There is probably a keyed washer that my also be missing.
Bicycle Pedals -- types, installation, Maintenance.

Might be easier just to buy some cheap wellgo or similar pedals depending on your needs.

I really can't understand what's going on. Like suggested above, can you post a picture of exactly the part you're having problems with.

This is the only picture I could find of a "vertical aftershock" bike.

For some reason I can't hotlink to it... sorry... linky no worky.

It's a 20" "full suspension" bike.

From the way the OP talks about it, it seems like the pedal has some of those plastic toe clips on it, and he lost a nut for it.

I'd go to your local coop/bike shop, they're bound to have it.

I suspect (or am just guessing) that the OP is referencing a crank that came off the spindle.

If so, this is to tell him that that hardware is pretty unique to the application, and he won't find what he needs outside of a bike shop.

Yea, I'm hoping he'll clarify what "cleat bracket" means.
