Fleche Buffoon !

Drove 671 round trip miles to join two fellow You Tubers Topher Lee and Pass Left TV to ride the Fleche Buffoon ride in New Hope, PA this past weekend. Topher did the ride last year and this year he and Pass had signed up as sag riders. This meant we started 30 minutes after everyone and helped anyone who might have problems. Before the first real climb we stopped three times to help with flats. The third stop was .3 miles before this climb, and the legs felt heavy. All in all it was a great day with temps in the 90's and great company to ride with.

The climbs keep coming !

The gloves match my entire kit I designed, that also match my Zipp2001 TT bike, and my shoes and helmet I painted.

Sorry wrong video, but this was the baddest climb on the Fleche Buffoon. Having trouble uploaded my 2017 cycling kit video. If you get a chance check out my You Tube channel and let me know what you think of the cycling kit.

I have ridden a lot of that route. I have only done a couple of those climbs though. Thank goodness

Le Fleche should have at least a couple of climbs, buffoonery or not.

I helped out at the finish line with dishing out beer/soda/water to finishers. I've heard about some of those climbs and have driven up them and cringed doing that. Lots of good roads in Bucks County (my backyard too). The company behind the Fleche has some other rides throughout the year. Some are more gravel heavy. Kermessesport.com.

Tough ride. I have ridden a lot of those road on both the PA and NJ sides but have never gone up Adamic to the windmill. Having to do Tumble Falls after 62 miles might make me puke.

I really miss the campground at Bull's Island. Used to ride up there from Philly a couple of times/year for long weekends. Twice we went up on Easter weekend. One of those times we were the only people there the Saturday before Easter.

OP: Have you ever done D2R2? I have done metric twice. (It's sort of a homecoming since I was a four-year "Deerfield Boy".) If not, you should give it a whirl. Great event and beautiful, challenging routes. And they feed you very well.

I think the camper being killed by the tree a few years ago was the nail on the coffin for Bull's Island being open:

Yes. Even if that tree did not come down due to the tree root damage caused by years of flooding, can you imagine the outrage if someone else were killed by a tree that was so damaged? IIRC, they cut down all the large trees and the area will re-open as a nature area sometime in the future.

Once the Black Bass Hotel re-opened it was fun to walk across the pedestrian bridge at night and have drinks at the bar, which at one time was at Maxim's in Paris.

I've never done the D2R2 but will have to check it out, I used to do the Great River Ride which had plenty of climbing.

It's coming up in August. IIRC, one route has over 10K of climbing. Just be advised that the routes are mostly dirt.
