Replacement for Shimano Tourney TX31 derailleur

I have a pretty simple bike but I'd like to replace that awful rear derailleur (Shimano Tourney TX31) for something more comfortable like Shimano Deore, but I'm not sure that it will fit or even work with 7-speed cassette. Any suggestion?

Anything marketed as 9 speed and below should work if it has a long enough cage to deal with the gears on your bike.

I use a tx-55 on my old road bike and find it works fine - what issue are you having?

Comfortable? Not sure I am following you.

I think due to cable pull and chain width you might be forced to use older parts .... but you should be able to find New Old Stock or lightly used Deore stuff. I think as Viich noted, anything 9-speed or less should fit.
