I never quite understand returns like that. I can understand returning a product that has failed or had major issues within a short period that were a result of the manufacturer but people returning all sorts of random goods that are perfectly fine doesn't make much sense. If it is a bike, test ride it a few times, if it is clothing try it on in a fitting room and maybe move around in it for a bit and make sure. I don't personally see a need to inconvenience myself and those who work in the store with a return due to my poor planning and purchasing. Maybe my parents raised me differently or I come from a different era or something?
I also would try and avoid Performance unless it was the only thing within a sizable distance or it was an emergency. Too many people I know who have worked there and too many times I have been in there myself and seen things that shouldn't happen at a good bike shop.
