I find this ad funny

It says it is a bike with a two gear automatic but the style is single gear/fixie.

It likely has a 2 speed hub in the back with some sort of automatic shifting mechanism.

It lists in the ad SRAM.

It is marketed as a "city bike" hub, with no shifter. Apparently with a coaster brake option. Marketed for simplicity (isn't that part of the appeal of single speed and fixies)?

Sturmey Archer has a 3-speed "fixed" hub (S3X). When not shifting, the hub is locked in gear, forcing pedalling 100% of the time, and allowing back pedal resistance for braking. I.E. Fixed Gear.

I'm not sure I'd want to mix "fixed" and "automatic" with an internal gear hub, as undoubtedly it would shift and slip at an inappropriate time.

It has no fixed gear so calling it fixie style seems to be a marketing instrument targeted at hipsters. I have never tried an automatic and find it an interesting concept.

That hub looks like a fun thing to try but I wish it had more speeds. The one shift doesn't give it enough range for my bum ticker or my hills.

Growing up I rode my mom's 26" Schwinn with a Duomatic hub. You shifted by pedalling back a half turn. Worked great in the flatlands of Chicago until I took it apart to see what made it tick.

Sounds like you are looking for an 'autobike' - there is one that has been for sale on kijiji several times over the past few years here. Apparently 6 speed auto shift.

To be fair, it is fixie/SS style. It just isn't a fixie/SS, but definitely looks like one. Probably aiming at folks who like the looks of such a bike, but want more than one speed.

I really don't see why it's that big of a deal.

Wal-mart bikes are of the "mountain bike STYLE." Doesn't mean in any way, shape, or form that they ARE a mountain bike.

Associating the appearance of bikes with certain groups of people doesn't really make sense to me. I ride road, gravel and fixed. Many times I ride a fixed gear bike and the roadies don't even realize I'm on a fixed gear bike until many miles into the ride.

Labeling groups with names such as "Hipster" is just poor taste. I know a self-defined redneck hillbilly who has a Phd in Physics from MIT. The adage about judging a book by it's cover applies.

Look around in Zürich, London or Berlin. For a lot of people the fixie is a must have fashion item. I think it is great when people love to ride a fixed gear but I find it funny when the bike is more of a hip(ster) fashion statement. You say labeling groups with names is just bad taste. I think if they are a "group" they deserve a name.

The 2015 GT Meatball offered the SRAM 2-speed Automatix as well, in an urban fixie/single speed style. Stock version was coaster brake only, although I've seen a photo of one with the optional front brake in a Canadian police auction. I was tempted by one but decided my knees weren't strong enough to tackle even our fairly modest hills with only two gears, let alone one.

There are DIY tutorials online for tweaking the Automatix shift point to suit your preferences. Now that I've been riding a couple of years I'm still tempted by the notion of a very lightweight folder like the Swift, or converting a lightweight frame, with the SRAM Automatix.
