I never thought of that but then I work outdoors in the sun so it wouldn't effect me. I'd rather have the white hands than bloody red ones if it came to it.

Personally, I'll sweat from my forehead and below my nose but my nose doesn't run off so that's not a problem I'm having thankfully.

So I guess it's one glove for the nose and one for the sweat?

Well, if your hands were to become red, so would your arms... (unless using long sleeve shirts of course).

Sunburn is an issue, and not just on your arms. I remember one long, hot ride in high summer where I wound up with an interesting sunburn pattern on my bald head. A bandana or cap works wonders for that.

Oh, never thought about that! I guess I won't return that Halo skull cap just yet... Although I do have 'some' hair, sun goes through what I have left very easily lol. I'm riding around 7am and 4pm so the sun isn't at its highest but if I'm going to be riding during peak sun time, I'll be sure to wear that cap... Thanks for the tip.

True, I have that problem as well, and also sensitive skin. FWIW My dermatologist pointed out that most caps have less than 10 spf. Bontrager makes a cycling cap with 50 spf.

Another advantage of a bandana or cap is that you can soak them with water to cool down on hot days.

might be a dumb question but do you wear sunglasses when you ride? I wear them and they seem to keep sweat out of my eyes pretty good.

I wasn't aware of that, something to look into.

Halo Skull caps have an SPF rating of 50 for black, blue, red and an SPF rating of 35 for white caps.

Mission Enduracool caps are UPF 45. I haven't seen any with a stated SPF/UPF factor lower than 20. Though it's odd a lot of manufacturers state SPF for clothing, when that specification is only for sunblock. Fabrics have UPF.

+1 on the Halo! I just started biking about 6 weeks ago and when I started getting serious my dad and brother both told me to buy a Halo, that it was their single best accessory they had purchased. I have to agree, not just to keep sweat out of your eyes but it keeps your head MUCH cooler than nothing at all. I wear a white helmet and a white Halo, the white is also a factor in keeping your head cooler. Black looks sharp but the sun will make it HOT.

I sew my own skullycaps from thrift-store shirts. Quick-dry synthetic fabric thrift-store shirts. Any ol' qwik-dry fabric will do. Takes about 10 minutes of hand-cutting&stitching. A size large shirt will yield at least 6 caps from it's factory hems (a few more if you are willing to hem.) When a cap's sweat-stink will not any longer come out in the wash, tossed it is and on to a fresh cap.

I'm dealing with west coast humidity fwiw.

Get full finger gloves. I actually had two pair of these cheap gloves:

Firm Grip X-Large Black Gloves (2-Pack)-55204 - The Home Depot

but the stitching gave out. Might get another pair but have PI gloves that are working for me so far.

Should have mentioned the tanning demarcation at the wrist.

Can't get rid of that without arm covers or long sleeve shirt. Hotter but doable. It would also get rid of the classic farmer's tan on your arms. But no worries, I think. :) Might be a conversation starter someday. I try to wear some sort of glove all the time. Even in hot weather, my hands get a little sweaty which makes the brake hoods sticky.
