Need help deciding on a bike

Hello everyone,

I've been looking around the web at Jamis and Bikes Direct, and I've found three bikes that I've narrowed down to.

Save Up to 60% Off Disc Brake Road Bikes -NEW Disc Brake Steel Road Bikes On Sale + FREE SHIP 48 Super Road, Disc Brake, High Grade Steel Bikes with CrMo Forks Motobecane Strada CM SPORT Plus WTB TCS Tubeless Compatible Wheels

codaelite

These three all fit my specifications of having disc brakes, steel frame, flat bar, and under 1k.

What would you choose from these three, or what other bikes would you recommend over them?

Thanks in advance!

Of those three, I'd slightly lean towards the Bikes Direct bike.

  • Forward mounted "Direct Mount" rear brake appears to be a slightly better brake mount than the style used on the Coda.
  • I'd favor the 10s drivetrain on the Motobecane vs 8s or 9s on the Coda bikes.
All three bikes appear to have front quick release rather than the more robust thu-axle.

I would go with the Jamis.

I would go with the bike that you can test ride before you buy it.

You don't actually give a stuff about which bike I'd like... well, if I was in your position, I wouldn't. The ONLY thing that's important is WHICH BIKE DO YOU WANT? If you haven't decided yet, you haven't looked around enough and yes, it IS an emotional choice. My needs and prejudices are irrelevant to you and thus, my recommendations are too. Choose the bike YOU want. In twelve months time, you may decide you want a different bike, but that'll happen even if you DO make the right choice now.

I'd have to recommend the Jamis Coda. We sold loads of them when I worked at the bike shop for my semi-retirement job.

Jamis...I own several and like them. Plus you get LBS support.
