What classification is this bicycle?

It seems to be part cyclocross and part road bike!

Gear: Bombtrack Arise | Cycle EXIF

Thank you,

It is a SS not a fixie and definitely not a cross, just look at the frame.

single speed road bike?

I'd agree with the cross designation though with the higher than normal bottom bracket.

Why isn't it a "cross?" Clears 35s, has canti studs, big open triangle for shouldering. 65mm BB drop, 71 HA, 73SA that's not too far from say the Kona Private Jake.

I'd say it kinda looks like a cross bike with fender mounts.

It is "a push back on the ever-complicated and over-featured stock bikes available from the big manufacturers" and "a blank canvas, bare, functional and practical in its natural state."

In other words, it is a sub $1000 single speed steel bike with mechanical disk brakes and entry level components.

The cast fork scares the crap out of me. In contrast, the linked article says it has a Fabric Scoop saddle which is a really nice touch if true. The manufacturer's website however, lists a different saddle which I've never hear of.

The rear dropouts might be cool. I don't know.
