Killer squirrels attack cyclists
|
Well I’ve never had a problem with squirrels, but I’ve killed a groundhog when it darted between my tires a few weeks ago. I happened to kill it instantly thank god. (I’m not happy that I killed it, I’m just happy the little thing went quickly)
Anyway, when I was up in Springfield Missouri a few weeks ago I heard that people have the same trouble with armadillos. |

Sounds like the lead should read, "Killer Cyclist attacks Squirrels". If there are any web-savvy squirrels out there, you might be able to find a story about some maniacal cyclist riding around and snuffing out squirrels who were harmlessly engaged in crossing the road.

I have been lucky enough not to hit any squirrels yet, although there are many around here. If I see them in time, I usually "snap" my brake levers, and they run before I get to them.

Killer Squirels?
no, but has anyone seen how big a well fed urban Racoon gets? Silly bleeder sauntered right out in front of me, and nearly took me off my bike one morning!! both tires., right over him!! All I could think of was dont go down... as you may well know, Racoons are quite nasty!! I took off not looking back until I was a few hunded meters away!! Im still scared to ride down that street!! |

I read a chilling article in the Weekly World News a few years ago, as I was waiting in line at the grocery store. It said that campers were being terrorized by talking squirrels, who would find a camper on their own, surround them, and chant "We want nuts, we want nuts!" (They couldn't print it if it wasn't true, right?)
And didn't Dilbert once predict the future, and claim that humanity would be enslaved by squirrels, and forced to work in their nut mines? The horror, the horror! It's started! You're next! YOU'RE NEXT!!!!! |
Bah! Forget about squirrels, bears, kangaroos and the rest of them. How many of you have ever been attacked by leeches before?
|
Grasshopper, you know little until you have birdfeeders.
 |
I was riding with a friend of mine along this narrow trek with lot's of dense bushes all around. I was in front, and then I heard this sound from the bushes and suddenly this lizard, about a meter long, dashed out of the bush from my left, across my front wheel and disappeared into the bush on my right. I hit my front brake which was a V brake and almost ran over the lizard, but I also almost flew over.
Both my friend and I couldn't see what kind of lizard it was as it ran so fast. |
monitor lizard, taste like chicken, if you do kill one gimme a howler, I will cook good sauteed Monitor Lizard for you, and its a good finger food when your drinking:beer: :D

A poor little chipmunk. On his morning stroll, looking for food and friends no doubt.
Out of nowhere he's struck. Dazed, he looks up and just as his life is about to expire he sees the red bike flying down and the rider looking back in surprise. I am that rider. I was shocked. I didn't even know what the hell I rode over. Then I looked back. Seems a little chipmunk strolled out into where he had all right being. We just keep taking, and taking their land. Nobody ever thinks; when are they going to take it back? If you think about it, it would be an easy victory for the animals. To rap things up, I was struck with guilt. I could not even get on my bike for about a week. I know I didn't act malitiously, but still. |
Yes, RobCat
Missouri has armadillos. Millions of them. They have replaced opposum as the #1 roadkill. |
A couple of years ago I was riding a trail in Pennslyvania that had chipmunks jumping out everywhere. They seemed to like the challenge of dodging us. One jumped on my foot, which was in the 6:00 position, and rode on it until the 12:00 position. Then the silly fellow jumped off and ran away.
Yesterday, I almost fell off my bike trying to avoid a little snake on the trail. I'm snake phobic and I was more afraid of him than he was of me. He probably wasn't even a foot long! |
Chipmunks play chicken. They should rename that game. Every ride there happens to be at least 3 chipmunks challenging me and my friends to hit them.

I never realized that I had been contributing to a vicious cycle (excuse the pun) by feeding the squirrels in my backyard. The hungry monsters act like savage beasts when they attack their ear of corn, and then head toward the "squirrel proof birdfeeder" for more.
I only began this because I was trying to make peace with them when we moved into our house. Any time we would walk outside, they would throw acorns down at us. The little buggers had pretty good aim too. Once I started feeding them, they left me alone, yet still bombed my husband. Now they have seen him put food out a few times and have eased up on both of us. They are the only pets that I have. Now I must face a difficult moral issue: Do I continue to feed fuel to squirrels, who will in turn reproduce and have babies that will cause hazards to fellow bikers? |
