Jamis Ventura Sport

So I recently purchased a Jamis Ventura Sport off CL for just a couple of bucks above blue book value, had a few good extras. Looks low milage by it's shape, little wear on the original tires and wheels. Haven't ridden it yet since I'm going over the whole thing. I know this was probably bottom of the barrel back then but the size, fit and weight attracted me, Tiagra components and low spoke count wheels, though in good shape they worry me.
I wonder if anyone here have had any experience with this bike at all?

I put together a Jamis Ventura sport from craigslist parts as my first serious commuter when I was getting into biking. I rode it many times on a 30km commute to D.C. and it served me well. I did replace the wheels, and I replaced the pedals with eggbeaters. It's extremely light and nimble.

Was able to take it out today for the first time on a 5 mile trial run... wanted to keep going but was not expecting temps in the 40's this morning here in central NJ!
Bike rode exceptionally well and coming from a super stiff aluminum one size smaller frame, this Jamis feels very smooth using 25cm wide tires at 110 psi. I forgot what a good fit felt like, Im 6'2" long legged and rode a 56.5 for years, that added with the stiffness, the previous bike was starting to feel like a torture device. Back to the Jamis, bike feels light and compliant, Im even able to ride hands off the handlebar but still quick enough without being twitchy or jerky in the front, has carbon forks. Still concerned about the wheels even though the spokes are nice and tight and running true, it's one of those funky 28 spokes Xero wheels but Im wondering if this attributes to the bike's ride.
The bike is a 2005 with the team colors?
Thanks all for reading and input or output appreciated!

My wife's best friend rides a 8 to 10 year old Ventura Sport. Actually rides the hell out of it. And she loves it.
