Anyone have experience with Bike24?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get myself a new pair of glasses for riding.. I stumbled upon a website called "Bike24". I'm in the USA and this seems to be a German site, after googling the site it seems to be a legitimate store. This is the link to the exact item in question..

https://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=192063

Should I go for it? I just wanted to make sure people have had good experiences with the site so I can avoid issues.

Thanks!

Have used then several times. All good. Prices are cheap compared to other sites. Shipping prices are reasonable but may take some time for larger items.

Yes, I've used them a few times (I usually buy spokes from them) and I've never had a problem with them. From memory I think they usually ship with DHL. Unlike some of the UK sites shipping doesn't become free after you buy a certain amount so keep that in mind. Make sure you set your country correctly so you aren't charged the euro sales tax.

always had good luck wih them, including returns and refunds n shipping, excellent expernce all around. For Oakleys you want i found the best price on chainreaction and it was free shipping and no customs (should not be an issue for OP as he is in US and limits are much higher compared to ours in Canada

This isn't serious

I am from Bulgaria. I have one purchase. After a week they send me a letter wich says that they didn't have the frame which I have payed. I am very disappointed. They have to fix the site!
Sorry for the bad words but I think this isn't serious.

Legit, but I have never found their prices to be worth it once shipping was added in. Always seemed to be on the high side to me, but I am comparing it to the UK sites which one can get free shipping by ordering a certain amount.

On some items (lights, racks, dynamo hubs), I've gotten better selection and prices (even after factoring in shipping) than elsewhere (there's also a bikediscount.de or something and rosebikes that I check for those items). Other items, I've found better prices in the UK and elsewhere. There's a lot of commuting/touring stuff that you can find on the german sites that you just can't get elsewhere without paying massively more (if you can get it at all). I haven't found that to be true for racing/performance stuff though.

It's been reported that Bike 24 has just been acquired by the UK based Wiggle.

Another article about Wiggles aquisition of bike24.

WiggleCRC acquires German rival Bike24 in reported 100m deal - Cycling Weekly

I hope the recent systems and ordering troubles that CRC and Wiggle had/have don't affect bike24 as well.

I used them twice no problems, fast delivery to my place and unlike CRC, bike24 always answer to any of my questions re. products, CRC has a better shipping rate though.

If you need a few things like brake pads, tyres, tubes etc, in addition to something else you may be buying, I more often than not, find them to be better than the UK sites.

But where they particularly stand out, is in their range.

Compare the bike repair stands, wheel building stands and locks on B24, to any other site and you won't find anyone else close to them on range and they are usually very close to the best price on offer anyway.

I hope these mergers don't have a negative impact on pricing. It usually isn't a good thing for consumers when purchasing options are reduced.

I'm more worried about loss of selection through consolidation. As @ColonelSanders noted where bike24 really shines is the breadth of their offerings. When I can't find something anywhere else, I can usually find 3 varieties of it there.
