J Spoke head height

I had to replace a couple of spokes. The spokes I purchased had a shorter head height. They would not work on the outside of the hub. The head height was too short. When I compared them with the original spokes the head height was about 1 mm less. The new spokes work fine when placed on the in side of the hub. I plan on replacing all of the spokes on this wheel but want to order spokes which have the longer head height. I don't see that as something commonly listed in the spoke specification. Do I just need to call the manufacturer to find this information? I was planning on buying DT competition double-butted spokes. Thanks

Head Height? or Bend radius , define your terminology better..

in Spoke manufacturing, the bend has gotten bigger with the dominance of aluminum hubs..

with steel hub shells you add a softer brass washer to fill the gap of the J bend against the thinner hub flange..
