Touch-Up Paint

So, my 2016 Roubaix SL4 Disc now has a paint chip in the "rocket red" paint on the top tube after falling over hitting the corner of my metal TV stand. :bang:

Called Specialized, and they don't provide touch-up paint so I can match exactly. Any suggestions?

Many have had good luck finding a good match with nail polish.

See if Specialized will give you the "RAL" paint code. If you have that, then many places will mix you up a tiny nail polish size jar.

Auto parts stores have little vials of car touch up. Sometimes you can get very close.

Nail polish can also work well if you have a good eye.

Nail polish is usually a good move. Wet 'n' Wild is usually about 99 cents at any drugstore; grab a few colors, mix, and go.

A WORD OF CAUTION should you decide to go the nail polish route. I accidentally got some on one of my fingernails and I have had a fascination with women's shoes ever since.

Model paint too.

The good, toxic stuff. Not the water based acrylic.

Most of the paint used by bicycle manufacturers is not specially mixed but rather using standard colors. They are typically available in spray cans from your local art stores.

My suggestion is to come up with a better story than fell over and hit the TV stand.

Something about a crit or a fast mountain descent or a freak hail storm or something.

I'd just push it into the store hold nail polish bottles up by it until I found a close one. I used to use car paint but that has gotten ridiculously expensive.
