Torquing Nitto stem

A friend recently gave me a nitto stem, and i'm in the process of installing it on a fixed gear bike. There are 2 bolts for the steerer tube clamp, and 4 bolts for the handlebar clamp. I have a torque wrench, and lightly tightened the 2 steerer tube bolts by allen wrench , alternating from bolt to bolt (enough to loosely hold it in place), and then the same for the 4 handlebar bolts (in an x pattern, enough to hold it loosely in place). Should I do a full torque on each steerer tube bolts (alternating bolt to bolt), or torque halfway then the other half? Is there a preferred way to do this?

Old bike Mechanic's term..

"Race tight", is just loose enough to slip without breaking stuff, in a crash, but tight enough to not shift bin normal use..

Dave, alternate bolts bringing each up to torque spec gradually.

Check your texts for a photo of the torque spec that came with the stem. Spec for the M5 bolts on that stem are 4 Nm ~ 6 Nm for both bar clamp and steerer clamp. Keep in mind that it is for a 26mm bar.

It came from Alex's in Japan. The currency exchange rate was not as favorable when I purchased it.The UI-86ex stem on my bike now is being used with the Nitto M106 NAS short reach, shallow drop bar at https://alexscycle.com/products/nitto-neat-m106-nas-1.
