Tire rub issue

Hello-- I just discovered some tire rub on my seatbtub (about 2-3 inches long) from a pair of new tires that did not have enough clearance for gravel/mud. I can now see the aluminum.

The ride this happened on was 8 miles long and the tires have since been swapped out.

Will this compromise the integrity of the frame now or is it purely cosmetic? I plan to tape it up to prevent further damage with some Lizard skin tape I have at the house.

Specialized doesn't sell paint anymore and finding teal to match doesn't seem like an easy task.

About the same as black paint.

that tape you mentioned is bar tape? so would you wrap it around the tube? if so, wouldn't you lose even more clearance? also paint could be applied to just the one spot, instead of all around the tube. it might look cool, like a design from the manufacturer to protect that area

Nail polish might have a close color. It sets up fast and is very hard. I have used plenty, over the last 20-30 years. I think some of the nail polish is Lacquer paint, or something similar. Clean the bare metal with alcohol and just use nail polish. I think they all come with a brush in the bottle.

I was thinking electrical tape. One strip width tape wrapped around the tube. Or some other color. Will take less time than what we have already spent discussing it. It will just look like a black stripe.

Or just leave it, it is not going to rust, anyway.

EDIT: oh, I see he meant bar tape. I'd just use electrical tape.
