What do you eat before a morning ride?
I am wondering if I am doing it right.....hopefully I am, but thought I'd get your opinions.
Before going for a ride in the morning (usually on weekends), I feel I "must" eat something (that could be because I'm diabetic), but if I eat very much I feel bloated and a little naucious when I start riding.
So I generally eat something, but something small like maybe a bagel or toast only.
Is that how you guys and gals do it too?

A big bowl of honey-nut cheerios with 2% milk, guzzled about 30 mins before a ride.

For racing, you really shouldn't consume anything in the 3 hour time frame leading up to the race. I suppose the same would hold true for training rides, depending upon the pace. You can eat once underway and should try to consume foods containing complex carbs and they are used more efficiently by the muscles.
While a bit of a sell-job, I would highly recommend reading this.

Pretty much the same thing I eat any other morning, bowl of cereal with a banana and a cup of coffee, with maybe a little extra cereal on a ride day.

My usual breakfast foods: Usually a bowl of cereal, or a couple of omletted eggs in a tortilla with salsa, or, in winter, oatmeal. I try to eat >30 minutes before I ride. This goes for my longer weekend rides and my commutes.
Is this recommended? I dunno - I'm not racing anyone but myself, so I haven't tried to change it to be more efficient. But I haven't found anything bad about it.

A normal breakfast, bowl of cereal with a banana and a cup of coffee. Sometime I ride to breakfast and have eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns, and coffee.

I have a very small bowl of the whole grain or granola cereal with skim milk and water. I bring gatorade and water with me for a break and some quick nourishment. I've also taken to eating higher carb dinners the night before, as it does help me with having more energy for my ride in the mornings.

Usually my morning rides start about 10 minutes after I wake up at about 5:30am. I have a gel while I'm getting ready. I have a Cliff Bar or bowl of Cherios before I go to bed the night before. If it's longer than an hour ride, I will start eating on the bike about half an hour into the ride.

If I'm doing a fairly short ride in the morning <10-15 miles> I generally won't have anything to eat, maybe take a bottle of gatoraide, and its more because I like it than because I know I'm going to be actually using the calories during the ride. I usually have a very quick breakfast after the ride, something like a slim-fast with a scoop of protein powder in it. Gives me about 400 calories, 30 grams of protein or so, and I feel really good all morning from it.

2 slices of toast, and an egg or two with my multivitamin and water. I try to eat this at least 30-40 minutes before I leave. I can't have any dairy products right before exercise. I'm not lactose intolerant usually but if I have even a cup of milk before bikin gor running, bad things happen.

Raising the Abyss
Anchovies, jalapenos, ex-lax and a big ole shot of mother's milk. Ah, I love this thread.
Seriously though --- 1 hour before ride: a bowl of oatmeal (sweetened h/ honey), a serving of fruit and about 8 oz. of iced coffee. On my ride I have one bottle of water and 1 bottle of iced tea (mixed black and green). The tea keeps my slight caffeine buzz going, while providing some anti-oxidants. My rides usually last about an hour.

It depends.
On my morning rides, if I am doing them solo, I go out before breakfast and just ride. I do not need anything to eat if the ride is no greater than 50 miles. I do exert myself solo but I don't push all the time like happens in certain fast rides.
If the ride is in the later morning and fast, then I have a light breakfast of a little cereal, and an orange and banana.

I haven't eaten anything before my morning commute in a long time. I leave earlier than most people wake up, usually between 4:15 and 4:30 and since I work two jobs I rarely get in bed before 11:00 so getting all the sleep I can is a must! Every once in a while I'll grab a banana or handful of peanuts, but that is rare.
When I get to work I cook me a breakfast since my office has a full kitchen, yes, all to myself!
