International Womens Day
On social media today it is International Women's Day and I happen to follow young racer Lucy Garner on Twitter. She had posted the following photo that I thought was just cool. So I went looking for other images of old cycling photos of women and thought I would post up some of my favorites. Feel feel to post yours. All credit goes to the original photographer.

Love the shoes and the bike. Anyone know what it is or who the ladies are?

The caption said the lady's name is Eileen Sheridan. Great form, big guns and in the big ring hauling the mail. I'm sure she could still put the hurt on me yet today.

Never let it be said that lady racers aren't tough too. Shoshauna Routley Crashing sucks!

Big smiles. Start them young and they will love these silly things we call bicycles forever. This one made me smile too.

No pictures but an interesting article about Lillias Campbell Davidson, Who Founded the First Women’s Cycling Organization. This is part of the nytimes series on women who have been overlooked in their obituaries section.

Not to be too pedantic, but International Women's Day isn't just a recent social media thing. It's over 100 years old and was widely celebrated in other parts of the world. I used to live a few blocks from 8th of March Street in Almaty, KZ, as I suspect there is one in most large cities in the Former Soviet Union. But was largely ignored in the US due to its association with Communism.
