Rim recommendations...?
I'm looking to do a wheel build and I'm not having much luck finding rims that meet my criteria. I have a Shutter Precision Dyno 32 hole front hub, and a Hope Pro 4 36 hole rear. I'm looking for rims with an internal width of about 21-23mm available with 32/36 hole configurations in 700c/29er (622). Intended use is heavy (clyde) commuting and touring, disc brake non-machined sidewalls. Closest I can find is Velocity Cliffhanger (25mm) or Dyad (18mm), both falling a bit outside of my sweet spot. I could go either way, but before pulling the trigger I'd like to know if there's any others I might be missing.
Recommendations? TIA, Kedosto |
Velocity Aileron would get you a 20mm internal width at less weight than the Cliffhanger or the Dyad. Pacenti Forza disc, too.
The Velocity Quill is intriguing at 21mm internal, as well, but I wonder if it's as tough as the others. |
I was going to say HED Belgium Plus but I don't think they do a 36h. Velocity Aileron would be an excellent choice as would the Dyad minus the internal width.

Recommendations? TIA, Kedosto Pick the Dyad or pick the Cliffhanger or pick the A23. It won't matter all that much in the end. Personally, I'd take the A23 for the front with an A23OC for the rear because the OC brings the nondrive side spoke tension within 80% of the driveside while a regular rim is around 60% of the drive side tension. That will much more of an impact than 2 or 3mm at the tire. |
