New cross bikes with rim brakes disappearing
I'd like basically a new or used cross bike with rim brakes. Why? I'd like to be able to swap my road wheelset over to ride road in the off season and totally shelve the carbon aero fancy thing.
Or leave the fancy bike setup for time trial in off season and ride the cross bike for road and cross.
I'm having a hard time finding Shimano 5800/6800 stuff NEW with rim brakes. Plenty of Tiagra/Sora stuff. Some used stuff obviously.
What are NEW options for 5800 and rim brake for something along the lines of a Boone/Crockett/TCX?

Late in the fall, when I decided CX racing would be a thing for me, I picked up a raleigh rx 1.0 for $700 (brand new on clearance), it's SRAM rival/ force but 2x11 speed. If you hunt around you might be able to find it if any places still have old stock. I'm like you, wanted to be able to potentially use my powertap with it. But I agree, finding canti options is getting tougher and tougher

I'd prefer a tubeless CX wheel/tire setup.
I thought tubeless was messy with all the goop sealant and rapid charge unit to get the tire to seat. Maybe I'm wrong. Doesn't seem like something I'd want to routinely mess with.
Right now, it looks like I'll go used and if it doesn't have a tubeless wheelset then I'll buy one.
I just hate the idea of buying an $1000 bike used and blowing $300+ on wheels when I can get a brand new bike for $1300 with everything I want EXCEPT the damn brakes.
If I was 2" taller, there's a 58cm Crockett for sale locally with what I want. But I'm 5' 9" and that's a little much for me. I'm a solid 54/56cm size.
